Are you sick and tired of your articles being declined and rejected by article directories? Give me a few minutes of your time to show you how to increase your approval rates and get more articles published.

It takes to much time out of your life to write and submit your articles to article directories to keep following on the same path of rejection. Stop letting your hard work go to waste. If you are anything like most marketers you are being held back by some basic mistakes.

Proof-Read Your Article
I have ran an article directory for several years now and have seen just about everything imaginable. However, I still can not get over the bad feeling I get when I have to decline a well written article that only has a few mistakes. One of the most common mistakes I find is authors do not take time to proof read their work. There are times that I find articles that have mistakes through the entire article. When I come across articles like this it tells me that the author does not care about quality content and that they just want a backlink.

Correct Spelling & Grammar Mistakes
Don't get me wrong while I am not in the business of declining and rejecting articles I have to think about the my visitors. To create a great article directory I cannot allow poorly written articles with tons of spelling and grammar mistakes to be published. If I did my directory would fall off the map and authors would not want to submit their articles and readers would not want to read the articles I do publish.

I cannot emphasis this enough, you must make sure your article is free of errors. I understand that that you might miss a couple of errors every once in a while because I do. Most article directories just want you to show that you care about your article content. When I'm in a good mood I do not care to fix 1 or 2 mistakes, but many directories are not this nice. Most article directories will reject, decline or delete your article when you have 1 mistake.

Follow The Submission Guidelines
A pet peeve of most article directories is authors who do not read their article submission guidelines. For instance I only allow authors to put 2 links in their resource box, while other directories may allow 3 links. I also do not allow authors to directly link to affiliate programs. While we are on the topic of links do not include a link to your site in the article body. Most article directories only allow links to authority sites in the body. For instance you could include a link to Google.

Another example of submission guidelines that people do not pay attention to is the minimum word count. Every directory sets their minimum word count differently. You can expect most directories to require at least 350-550 words in your article. Therefore, if you want to please every directory you submit your article to you should try to write articles that are around 600 words long. This will keep your word count well above the minimum word count of most directories.

Structure the Layout of Your Article Properly
Another common problem I see quite often is the layout of an article. Somtimes articles will be submitted with multiple line spaces between paragraphs or none at all. I also have seen articles that use line breaks. Line breaks are required for some older article directories, but now days line breaks are not required. In the old days you always had to use line breaks, but today most directories use advanced html editors that recognize word wrapped paragraphs. Most layout mistakes are caused by out dated article submission software, but every once in while it is due to an error on the authors part.

Check Your Resource Box For Broken Links
Lets talk about your resource box a little bit more now. To this day I do not understand why authors would take time to write and submit an article with mistakes in their resource box. It defeats the entire purpose of submitting articles to directories. Check for typos and most important of all make sure your links are not broken. I always check my links by creating a HTML file on my computer that I open in my web browser. This allows me to click each link to see firsthand if I am using the correct link code.

Have a Friend Read Your Article
From my experience of running an article directory I have come to realize the most mistakes authors make could have been prevented if the author took a few minutes to proof read their articles. This is why I usually have a friend read through my articles before I start submitting them to article directories. They tend to see things I do not see.

If you keep this article in mind the next time you write and submit an article it is going to get published. However, make sure your article does not sound like a blatant advertisement and be sure to include quality content.
